Copenhagen!

I am settling into my hotel. Shouldn't take much time. (See the tiny space in the photos. Believe it or not, this room is classified as a triple.) It's sunny and 50*/10C this morning. I'll be going out in a bit to try to reset my clock, although I suspect it will be a short and relatively unproductive day. Trying to take it easy on my sore knee. There will be lots of travel and lugging tomorrow when I move to Leicester.

I managed to pack for 2+ months in a rolling duffel. It came in 2# under the baggage max weight at the airport. Add in my tote with my laptop and winter gear, and my luggage is approaching half my body weight. (Sorry, knee...)

There was some sort of technical problem at the airport this morning, and all the ATMs were down. Fortunately, I was carrying some U.S. cash that I could exchange. Others weren't so lucky.

I'll post more later if I can still see straight. Otherwise, I'll post from my office on Friday.

Ready, Set...

I've had a busy month in Florida--arrangements and packing, the inevitable work issues, and some play with Tom (www.patandtomsexcellentadventures.blogspot.com). Now it's almost time for the real sabbatical to begin. Early Tuesday morning I'll put on my watch for the first time since June and head to Copenhagen. You can expect an update on Wednesday, with many more to follow.

September!

After a torrid summer, folks in my part of Florida look forward to the beginning of September as it marks the transition from the tropical weather pattern. Humidity drops a bit, and the nights cool. We've slept with windows open the past few nights, and this morning's 70* temp felt almost chilly to us.

This has been a week of maintenance duties for me--eye check, dental visit, and even an oil change for the car. I also finally booked my sabbatical flights, with an assist from a cousin's neighbor. Thanks to a chance encounter while I passed through her community, I was able to use her vouchers for my travel, and I will now be flying into Copenhagen. I am enchanted by the idea--haven't been there in decades--but am busy plotting and scheming to avoid the herring sandwiches (if I can afford them, that is. Rumor has it that Denmark is very $$$$).

I am sorry to be missing friends and festivities at my summer place this holiday weekend. The weather forecast here looks promising, though, and Tom and I have plans for some paddling and for our annual float trip. I suspect that Tom will also be trying out his new waffle maker. Sounds pretty good to me.
