September!

After a torrid summer, folks in my part of Florida look forward to the beginning of September as it marks the transition from the tropical weather pattern. Humidity drops a bit, and the nights cool. We've slept with windows open the past few nights, and this morning's 70* temp felt almost chilly to us.

This has been a week of maintenance duties for me--eye check, dental visit, and even an oil change for the car. I also finally booked my sabbatical flights, with an assist from a cousin's neighbor. Thanks to a chance encounter while I passed through her community, I was able to use her vouchers for my travel, and I will now be flying into Copenhagen. I am enchanted by the idea--haven't been there in decades--but am busy plotting and scheming to avoid the herring sandwiches (if I can afford them, that is. Rumor has it that Denmark is very $$$$).

I am sorry to be missing friends and festivities at my summer place this holiday weekend. The weather forecast here looks promising, though, and Tom and I have plans for some paddling and for our annual float trip. I suspect that Tom will also be trying out his new waffle maker. Sounds pretty good to me.
